Essential Tips on Gaming for Newbies: The World of Internet Games

Internet games use the cyber world technology for playing. Games are extremely popular and constantly evolving.

There are:

• Games played using e-mail.

• Games played on a browser window by using a web address.

• Games played using Internet Relay Chat, Telenet, MUD client, or a Web based forum.

• Games that are graphic need stand-alone software that permits players to play with or against one another using an Internet connection.

The first game, MUD, was developed in 1978, and the market has burgeoned since then.

To play, one needs:

• A reliable Internet connection.

• A personal computer or game console.

• Selected software required by specific games.

One can play simple board games like scrabble, or bingo, or games like poker, mahjong, and pool. Another popular category is simulation games—these imitate real-life situations and cover aspects like combat, city planning, strategies, as well as flight simulation.

For serious gaming the computer performance must be optimized. This can be done by:

• Running the disk defragmenter and organizing the computer files. This should ideally be done once a month at least.

• Correct folder and file errors by using scandisk—use once a week and the computer will give trouble free performance.

• Clean your hard drives—get rid of Internet files, temporary files, as well as files in the trash/recycle bin. Clear the cache and uninstall programs that are not in everyday use.

• Update the operating system software. Download any new security patches. Keep video drivers updated.

• Clear space on the hard drive—store files on a back up system.

• Clear any spyware you have inherited from websites.
• Minimize number of programs running—when playing a graphic intensive game if there are too many programs running simultaneously the graphics will become choppy and game will be slow.

• Delete add on game files—wall papers and other paraphernalia will just clutter the computer.

• Run an anti-virus program regularly but disable it when you are loading/playing games. Antivirus programs slow down games.

• Always shut down the computer properly.

The Internet allows gamers to compete with people across oceans, on the other side of the world and anywhere in the universe. Some use PCs while others use consoles. What you use is a personal choice and depends on issues like costs and so on.

Before you buy a game you must:

• Consider “system requirements” – some games can run on systems that are not exact others need specific hardware.

• Find out if the game is single player or multi-player. Many games need the Internet—and, the broadband connection is more efficient than the dial-up connection. Many like Xbox Live only work on a broadband connection.

• Find out if the game can be played using a mouse/keyboard or whether it will need a full-featured joy stick.

Be wise and try a demo before making an actual purchase. Playing a demo benefits the player as well as game developer. Many online games offer free trial periods —beta testing is a great opportunity to find out if the game suits your taste as well as pockets.

Do your research thoroughly—usually there are several games competing for players within a genre. Read game reviews before taking the final step.

No Download Casinos just feel safer

There is something about downloading software off the net isn’t there. You are never quite sure, even from the most reputable website in the world, you still think, mmmmm.. is this definately safe? In the majority of cases it always is, but there are certain people that just don’t want to download anything at all, and who can blame them? Imagine you go out pay $1500 for the latest hi tech PC and then have it totally warped when you download some awful malware from somewhere you felt was safe!

Not nice, which is why the Top 10 No download casinos remains such a favourite for most online casino fanatics, because they know that they can click, register, deposit and crack on with the slots, craps or whatever other game takes their fancy without the need to wait seven minutes for download completion.

It is so much faster not having to download, and whilst the graphics may not be what one might expect, do you really need a red, black and green table to be as clear as the night sky in the Maldives? Thought not.

A whole online casino list is available at QwertyCasino.com with new lists having just been created such as Casino bonus codes to give you that bit extra before playing, the best live online casinos and a very unique best gambling games which brings together lesser known gambling sites such as mahjong, dominoes, rummy and spades!

Addictive games are so great to play again and again – and that’s why they become so addictive! There are so many websites that offer people the chance to play all sorts of games for free from motorbike games to action games such as Bubble Trouble 2, online sudoku, mahjong and so much more .

Then in no time you can be playing some great motorbike games on your PC for free. One of the best things about addictive games is that they are usually so easy to play and each time you play then you try to beat your previous score. This is great fun for a little competition as you compete against other people from around the world. Who knows you might even make a new friend or two if you chat to others players on games forums.

Maybe sporting games are not really your thing – you might be looking for action games that are available to play in a multiplayer mode. If this is the kind of thing you are looking for you will just love Bubble Trouble 2 – a game where you and friends have to zap the balls and move on to the next level. However this game is actually trickier than you would think and you will soon be desperate to beat your previous score and move on to the next level. One thing is for sure, once you start playing Bubble Trouble 2 you will want to keep playing it over and over. As the actual game length is quite short you can easily fit a few games of Bubble Trouble 2 into your coffee break at work or at home and not lose too much time. Be warned though this really is one of those addictive games that will suck you in and make you addicted to it in no time.

Addictive games are an excellent choice if you have access to a PC and an internet connection and want to play a few games that are exciting and will have you hooked. You might even want to get a few friends to play too, you can compare scores and see which one of you is the best at your chosen games. Download Free Games At Your Own Risk Read This First!

There are a multitude of online gaming sites offering free games but who do you trust? The purpose for this article enlighted you of the risks of randomly selecting a site.
When looking for a game to play online you must be very careful. There are as many free download site as there are games. The selections are almost endless, but where can you download these games securely. Whether your looking for hidden objects! games or your more of a puzzle person there are a few sites that I have found to be customer friendly. They all have memebership options and when joining you receive a large discount for being a memeber. Here are my top three recommendation in the order of All around Best sites to download from:

1.Big Fish Games! They offer a comprehensive list of games everthing from puzzles, hidden objects, card games and much more. The selection of downloads is amazing. They truly offer a game for all age groups including Dora the Explorer and Where’s Waldo and hundreds more for kids and for adult Mahjong ,card games of all sorts along with Mystery games that keep you pulling your hair out for Hours. The best part is all games are free to download and play for a full 60 minutes giving you plenty of time to become hooked. They have a no spam policy and are virus free. I never order games anywhere else.

2.Gamehouse Games offers a slightly smaller selection of games but Over all their customer service is a little slow to respond to problems and the website is a bit harder to navigate. They also offer a free demo on games and offer a promotion to play over 900 games for just under $20.00 dollars a month if you join their fun pass. The downloads are safe and the games including the Mortimer Beckett series are well put together and fun for the whole family to play.

3.Spin Top Games The website is easy to navigate but seems a bit plain. the games offered are for the most part older games mixed with a few new ones. One thing I didn’t like was the fact that I had to download the game first and then was offered the opportunity to buy it. I would like to know the price of the game before I download.

In my opinion stemming from personal experience along with the many polls I have conducted, customer service a safe and secure download and privacy were the main factors in deciding which company to choose.

I hope you found this information helpful.

World Games of Montana: State?s Largest Game and Puzzle Retailer Keeps Things Kooky, Challenging and Cool

World Games of Montana

State’s largest game and puzzle retailer keeps things kooky, challenging and cool

By Brian D’Ambrosio

Steven Matthew Read’s life is all fun and games. And challenging jigsaw puzzles. And amusing gamer tournaments. And friendly competitions and board game demos.

That’s because, for Read, or “Smat,” as he’s known in gaming circles and by customers, engaging in activities that provide entertainment and merriment, is all in a day’s work.

See, Smat (the nickname Read acquired while in the Peace Corps a few years ago) manages World Games of Montana, the state’s largest game and puzzle store in the state, now in its fourth year of operation.

Indeed, Smat knows games like a sassy surgeon understands complex anatomy. From the particular style or manner of playing a game, to the way a game functions or flounders, he’s well-acquainted with every product in the store.

Believe me; I tried slipping a few scrutinizing shots past this game-loving goalie the Monday morning we’d met.

“What’s this Industrial Waste game?”

“It’s a game based on economics in which players try to produce as profitably as possible, but they also need to keep an eye on their waste output.”

“How about Louie XIV?”

“This is my favorite game right now, involving the bribery of French officials. It’s about power and influence in the French court at the end of the 17th Century. It’s an excellent time and a high level of tension is guaranteed.”

Hmmm..the fellow knows the inventory, doesn’t he? In fact, Smat started coming to World Games of Montana last year to participate in various game nights, and he was asked a month ago by store owner Jeri Fisher, to, well, hop on board.

And the store still offers plenty of extracurricular activities for a variety of different skill levels and interests: Tuesday is cribbage night; Thursday is strategy board game night; Friday Mahjong and Goa are played; Scrabble contests, gamer tournaments and chess matches are frequently held.

What’s most interesting about browsing the wide selection of options at World Games of Montana: it seems that today there’s more to game life than the unstimulating and wimpy offerings of decades past, like Chutes and Ladders or Candyland. Things have gotten intricate and complicated to deal with in toy land – in a fun sort of way of course. “Our focus is to bring people together, something not so easy in an electronic age. We try bringing people together in new, exciting and creative ways.”

There are many rich and interesting games available on the market using objectives that include excavating artifacts, discovering wind energy, running a new colony, and earning money with electrical power. One such game is Deflexion.

Deflexion combines lasers with classic strategy for an experience enjoyed by players of all ages. Players alternate turns moving Egyptian themed mirrored pieces around the playing field, and fire their low-powered laser diode with the goal of illuminating their opponent’s pieces to eliminate them from the game.

“This game involves armies and strategic configurations and capturing the pharaoh. It’s a modern day chess game. It’s a lot of fun.”

In the game Puerto Rico all the players are plantation owners in that country during the days when ships had sails and Columbus was curious. Players grow five different kinds of crops: corn, indigo, coffee, sugar and tobacco; they must attempt to run their fledgling businesses more efficiently than their close competitors.

“With Puerto Rico you make your own economy. Everybody is doing the same exact thing and the person that does it the most competently wins.”

Another ‘economy based game’, Settlers of Canaan takes place in the territory of Canaan, off the coast of the Great Sea. Each player represents a tribe of Israel as they seek to settle the land of Canaan. The game uses pieces and events similar to the historical scenarios. For example, players build the wall of Jerusalem by contributing bricks.

“Settlers of Canaan is bulldozing its way across the world. It’s like the new Monopoly,” says Smat.

If you like being presented with difficulties needing solution by your own ingenuity or patient effort, you’ll be mighty impressed with the store’s inventory of puzzles. Many of them are based on the artistic works of European masters. One puzzle has over 13,000 pieces.

If your brain has the necessary concentration components, you may be able to assemble a true masterpiece in the form of a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle of Leonardo da Vinci’s The Mona Lisa, perhaps the most famous paining in art history.

Clementoni puzzles are sold at World Games of Montana, too. Using quality materials, beautiful pictures, elegant packaging, and a richness in printing, these exclusive collectors’ items come from the most avant-garde puzzle company in the world.

M.C. Escher was a Dutch graphic artist, most recognized for spatial illusions, impossible buildings, repeating geometric patterns, and his incredible techniques in woodcutting and lithography. The puzzles based on his work have intricate repeating patterns, mathematically complex structures, and spatial perspectives requiring a “second look.” In Escher’s work what you see the first time is most certainly not all there is to see.

Indeed, there’s a seemingly infinite array of silly and perplexing products to be discovered lining the shelves at World Games of Montana, from abstract strategy games, to classic games, to zany card games for kids.

And consequently, for Smat, there’s always a newfangled and funky game waiting to be opened and then experimented with. And then demoed and discussed.

“There are so many good games being invented all the time and I’m excited to learn about all of them. I’m looking forward to sharing that knowledge and enthusiasm with others.”

About Li Songsong – a Chinese Artists

Li Songsong was born on 1973 in Beijing, China. He lives and works in Beijing, China. His painting was the kind of iron candy boxes he played with when he was small. Its title was “Beijing Candy.” There was another one called “Digging,” which depicted some soldiers digging trenches. He painted above two paintings between 1997 and 1999. At that time, he just graduated from college and had not much to do at home so he painted those. This way of thinking was not especially active back then.

He made “Horse” in June 2001. He started to paint these paintings during that summer when he found some old photographs. Originally he wanted to paint something that had a certain distance from reality. He thought to construct a scene in painting, representing things or a certain sentiment from our real life, was not so interesting.

The painting of the soldiers digging the trench, for example, was a picture he saw by chance. He felt attracted to the process of looking at photographs. When he looks at pictures in a book, he usually turns them over when we understand the meaning in them. He painted this picture probably because He looked at it so closely. It was a very plain photograph: some people in uniform were digging into the earth on a wasteland. After he read the explanation, he realized that the people were voluntary soldiers digging a trench during the Korean War. If you look at an image long enough, you will discover other meanings in it. He had also painted images from TV, the portrait of the late Deng XiaoPing for example. At the time when he passed his portrait was on TV every day. I took a picture of his portrait and painted it. But he didn’t continue with this kind of topics, including the one of the candy box. Perhaps he wanted to paint some existing and ready-made things at that time. But he didn’t want to sketch a person in a conventional type of space. He wanted the original image to be something one dimensional.

Blow Off Steam to Protect Your Brain and Your Heart

All of us suffer from some form of stress in our lives.  For many people stress is an emotional pressure cooker, amplifying feelings we may already be having or might possibly be suppressing.  The way we deal with emotions such as sadness, anger, apprehension, etc, can have a major impact on our memory, mental and physical health.

Almost everyone experience anger from time to time, and it is an appropriate response to some stressful situations.  It often helps us resolve conflicts, but anger can lead to high levels of stress hormones, anxiety, depression, and even memory loss.  Chronic anger arouses the nervous system and increases heart rate and blood pressure.  Expressing every angry feelings or emotion that comes to mind can be socially alienating, and people who tend to get angry quickly with little or no provocation have a greater risk for heart disease than those with calmer temperaments.

There is a clear relationship between levels of stress-related emotions such as anger, and blood pressure; the stronger the emotion, the higher the blood pressure.  And as blood pressure increases, so does the risk for strokes, dementia, and memory loss.

Although studies show that control of angry outbursts might benefit physical and mental health, too much anger suppression may increase blood pressure levels.  New research suggests that an intermediate level of anger expression, somewhere, between unbridled outbursts and complete containment, may be the healthiest response, allowing a certain amount of stress release without blowing our tops.  Anger modulation is the goal, striving for a healthy expression of angry feelings in the right situation.

In a study of men age 50 to 85 years, using standard anger expression scale and covering a variety of ways people express anger, such as the rate the respondents slammed doors, made sarcastic remarks, or lost their tempers.  Men with moderate levels of anger expression had a lower risk of heart attacks compared with those who tended to express fewer angry feelings.  A little bit of anger expressed directly rather than indirectly seems to protect the brain as well as the heart.  Also, subjects in this study who responded that they directly show their anger rather than indirectly by just saying nasty things or making sarcastic remarks showed a significantly lower risk for developing  stroke, which often causes long-lasting memory impairment.

Anger, stress related or otherwise, is sometimes the flip side of sadness.  In fact, some psychoanalysts describe depression and sadness as “anger turned against the self”.  Many people have found that their anger may be masking underlying feelings of sadness or disappointment and I’ve heard it said that it’s easier to feel mad than sad.  The idea of modulating angry feelings applies to unhappy ones as well, and talking with friends or professional is a good option to keep in mind.

A good way to de-stress and build your brain power is simply to hang out with friends and play a game of chess or some card games like bridge or poker.  In Asian communities, old folks often come together for a game of Mahjong.  This is a game that requires a sharp mind and it certainly is a good memory training game and it has been proven to improve one’s memory.  The advantage is that it also gives respite to the stress of life.  Together with the fact that Chinese tea is often drunk during Mahjong sessions, it is not surprising that cases of Alzheimer’s and dementia is low in such communities.

You may also consider taking stress-management classes to acquire specific skills on how to handle your reactions to stressful situations.  You can learn to better monitor and better interpret any automatic, sometimes irrational thoughts that stem from stress.  You also learn to use progressive muscle relaxation techniques and related strategies.

After a few months of stress-management instruction, studies have found that volunteers showed significantly reduced rates of heart attacks and other cardiac events, and improved memory mental and physical health outcome for many years.
